Quality Manager

Reports To: President 

Department: Management Team 

Job Summary:

The Quality Manager ensures that quality policies, practices, and procedures comply with all customer contract requirements, applicable industry standards, and regulatory standards to maintain an effective Quality Management System.  Not only do they lead and manage the quality department, but as part of the management team they assist in developing and executing the company’s strategic goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Lead, motivate, develop, coach, and drive the quality team to achieve the department’s strategic goals.
  • Train and develop quality personnel on inspection methods, equipment, and standards, as well as other skills and competencies as required.
  • Interact and work with team members at all levels using excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Serve as the team’s subject matter expert and provide leadership in technical decision making.
  • Conduct performance reviews twice a year for all direct reports

Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the organization to ensure compliance with ISO9001 and customer requirements.
  • Manage daily inspection priorities to support operations. Balance assignments between in-process inspection and final inspection.  Schedule and support third-party source inspection.
  • Lead and maintain compliance for internal, customer, supplier, and third-party auditing for products and processes. Maintain data, metrics, and scorecards for findings and performance.
  • Proactively identify situations where problems may arise. Lead and facilitate problem-solving with a cross-functional team to address quality concerns and implement recurrence prevention measures.
  • Interpret customer/ industry drawings, specifications, and requirements. Ensure compliance is captured in contract review.
  • Develop, implement, and train on policies, processes, and procedures pertaining to documentation management, measurement, and monitoring of the quality management system.
  • Support new business development through the integration and training of new requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in a machining environment
  • Experience leading compliance through internal/ external auditing, management reviews, and the development of tools, processes, and metrics for measuring compliance.
  • Must be knowledgeable with ANSI 14.5 geometrical tolerancing
  • Solid analytical decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate information quickly and effectively.
  • Competent in the operation of inspection equipment
  • Comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Thorough understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application to process improvement.
  • Familiarity with export control requirements, including DFAR and ITAR
  • Experience in a job shop/ tooling environment is a plus
  • Past supervisory experience is highly desirable.

 

CNC Programmer / Machinist

Skillcraft Machine Tool Company is seeking experienced individuals to join our highly skilled team.  This is a full-time position with competitive wages based upon experience, and available overtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Program, set up, and operate (1) or more CNC machining centers to produce small to medium size lots of parts and assemblies
  • Use blueprints to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels for finished product
  • Design, fabricate, and utilize fixtures as necessary to machine the work piece
  • Work with the production team to complete complex projects in an efficient manner
  • Maintain a clean and organized work center

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC machining centers
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to use inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) as needed
  • Ability to hold tight tolerances
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • HURCO and/or Mastercam experience a plus

Inspector

Ensure product conformity by employing sound inspection techniques. Utilizes inspection equipment to perform layout inspection of machined parts to customer supplied blueprints. This position serves in our Quality department, and reports to the Quality Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Uses surface plate, height gage, and hand tools to perform in-process inspection of manufactured parts and assemblies at various stages of operations
  • Incoming inspection of parts from vendors
  • Support efforts to maintain ISO:9001 compliance
  • Assist Management, Machinists, and vendors with quality concerns.
  • All other reasonable duties, as required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in layout and manual inspection methods
  • Experience in a Job Shop/ Tooling environment a plus
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of quality inspection techniques and requirements
  • Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Competent in the operation of standard inspection equipment
  • CMM experience with PCDMIS is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and through email
  • Comfortable multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
